• Brackla Food CoOp

I can't stress strongly enough what a real asset to Brackla, the Brackla Food co op actually is. Each bag costs just £3.00 and no matter how hard I try I just can't find better. Run by Brackla residents, for Brackla residents strictly not for profit. Recommended!

  • Breast Cancer Care

A fantastic time was had by all at last weekends Strawberry Tea in aid of Breast Cancer Care at Brackla Community Centre. With a musical overlay presented beautifully by the Bridgend 'Tenovus' choir the mood was very much upbeat and enjoyable. Thanks to the organisers.

independentbrackla-small2Brackla is numerically and geographically the largest borough in Bridgend. Its hoped that one day soon we will enjoy ‘Town’ status in our own right with all the advantages that come with the title.

We have a population of almost 12,000 and as a result we ‘benefit’ from more county councillors than any other borough (4) and more community councillors than any other area with 11.

However due to a lack of…support? Or interest perhaps?

Brackla has no kids events planned for half-term.
Brackla Halloween event is cancelled this year
Brackla Fireworks display is cancelled this year
Brackla Christmas party is already threatened with being cancelled this year even though its only October 18th as I write.

Brackla turned out en masse recently to support Breast Cancer Care

The Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning is set to take place at Brackla Community Centre  on Monday 23 September from 10 – 12 noon.

It’s Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event ever and it just keeps getting bigger every year.

Macmillan Cancer Support ask people across the UK to hold a coffee morning, where donations on the day are made direct to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The same event in 2012 was attended and subscribed by over 115,000 supporters nationwide. Raising a staggering £15 million. But when we bear in mind 1 in 3 of us will be directly affected by cancer at some stage in our lives in real terms, its a drop in the ocean.

Where Does the Money Go?
Cancer is the toughest fight most of us will ever face and unfortunately there are people who go through this horrendous condition with no support network of family or friends around them. Macmillan Cancer Support exists to help those people through their ordeal and every penny raised is put into directly supporting them.
